jaiku

In what is obviously a bit of a kick in the head to Twitter, Google has bought Jaiku, the “micro blogging” platform. I must admit, I’ve always preferred Jaiku since it launched. The whole thing feels much slicker than Twitter and I love the dedicated application for my Nokia E65. It’ll be interesting to see how it comes out the end after it’s had its sprinkle of Google Pixie Dust. Here’s the press release from the Jaiku site:

Our engineers are excited to be working together and enthusiastic developers lead to great innovation. We look forward to accomplishing great things together. In order to focus on innovation instead of scaling, we have decided to close new user sign-ups for now.
